We just transitioned from 1990’s lighting to 2018, swapping 23 incandescent bulbs for Ecosmart LEDs. First, it was surprising how much better the lighting was; LEDs have come a long way. But, just how much energy will we save? The old incandescent bulbs used over 1563 kW of electricity per year, while the new bulbs use less than 206 kW over the same time period (based on estimated usage of 3 hours per day, 365 days per year). Given our energy costs, this will translate into approximately $172.00 dollars in savings per year, or $2,346.49 over the lifespan of the new light bulbs. That is worth a lot of delicious beer at our local brew pub.
